Blog 9 Environmental Awareness

Blog 9 December 24, 2016

This week I have accomplished giving suggestions to my peers on their elevator pitches they have posted on edmodo. I also accomplished giving myself a suggestion on how to improve my pitch incase I come across someone who could benefit me in the project my partner and I are doing. The thing that has gone wrong is I kind of got confused where to tell them their suggestions on how to improve on their pitches, but luckily I remembered Mrs. Miura said to reply on their names or videos. The challenges I have faced are some of my peers own video were pretty good and I did not know how to critique them on it and tell them how they can improve their pitch. Through the process, I have learned what my peers are doing for  their 20% projects, who they are trying to help, and what they are trying to achieve. My skills have improved over the week by me critiquing and being helpful (by giving suggestions to help others improve). Yes, we are on track for on-time delivery. No adjustments are needed in our timeline. Our next action is to memorise the pitch and prepare for a live performance.

Blog 8 Environmental Awareness

Blog 8 December 17, 2016

This week I have accomplished my elevator pitch post in Edmodo. Nothing has really gone wrong with our elevator pitch. I faced many challenges with the elevator pitch by recording myself. It was kind of hard memorising the pitch. While recording I kept getting words mixed up or I would forget them and pause for a while and if I paused it would be more than 30 seconds. So I had to memorise the pitch completely to get this down. Another challenge was our pitch was a bit more than 30 seconds so we had to cut off parts of our elevator pitch to reach the criteria of 33 seconds maxed. I also kept stuttering and I got irritated by how I couldn’t get the pitch down. I finally got it in the end. I memorised the pitch completely and I will be prepared when we do our elevator pitch in front of my peers and teacher. My skills have improved this week by me in my memorising skills. I believe my partner and I are on time for delivery. No, adjustments would be needed right not for our timeline. Our next action is to get our empathy interviews down.

Blog 7 Environmental Awareness

Blog 7 December 10, 2016

This week, my partner and I have accomplished answering some of the questions for the elevator pitch and we also got some assistance from Mrs. Miura about our environmental awareness project. The thing that has gone wrong was we were too overwhelmed about the project and decided to change it a bit, we thought speaking to the legislature was such a HUGE thing. The challenges I faced, were I was kind of getting nervous and scared in the long run of our project because we were going to present to the legislature and some important political people, but I have learned to ask Mrs. Miura for assistance if we are struggling and if my partner and I do not know what to do because of the difficulty, pressure, and other things. My skills have improved over the past week by me being more open and to ask help if I am struggling. I am unaware right now if we are on on-time delivery, but I think we are because we found the answers to our question online. No adjustments are needed to be made on the timeline as of now. Our next action is to continue to work on the elevator pitch and to call or email the environmental political person for our project.

Blog 6 Environmental Awareness

Blog 6 December 3, 2016

This week my partner and I have accomplished deciding what to do with our project. We are thinking of changing the proposal up. The project will still be about environmental awareness, but this time we will ask DEQ and DFW if we could collaborate with them or work together to do this project. We are going to do this because we think that our previous idea is really big considering that we were going to talk to the legislature and try to convince them to do something about the environment. The thing that has gone wrong is that the decision we made was so late planned and we need to discuss it with Mrs. Miura, so we could get started. We already have some of the things needed for this idea. We are willing to work double time so we can catch up or be on the same pace by next week or the following week after that. The challenges that I have faced are that it felt like the days went by very fast and my partner and I barely had time to discuss it. Lucky we communicated online to get some questions i had out of the way. My skills have improved over the past week by me using my communication skills (technology, messaging over the phone). I am unsure if we are on track for on time delivery because we are reconsidering our previous idea. If we change our idea adjustments will be made to the timeline and the whole proposal. Our next action is my partner and I are going to be discussing more about it and when 20% project time begins we will discuss with Ms. Miura about it (this is only if we do change our proposal) if we do not we are not going to discuss with Mrs. Miura, but to continue doing our previous idea and do the elevator pitches.

Blog 5 Environmental Awareness

Blog 5 November 26, 2016

This week, I have accomplished helping my peers. I helped my fellow classmate named Kanzo finish his blog. I also assisted others in the process when they had questions and they asked me how to do it or what to do next. Nothing has gone wrong helping Kanzo. He followed the steps I told him to do and he submitted his first blog. The challenges I have faced is that Kanzo is a really slow typer so it took a while for me to help him out through the process. I have learned that Kanzo is a very slow typer, but if he keeps practicing and continues making his blogs, he will develop the skills, or he will get use to it and he will become a faster typer. My skills have improved over the past week by me being considerate/helpful (helping my peers with their blog) and patient (waiting on Kanzo to finish his blog, slow typing). Yes, my partner and I are on time on our delivery. We do not need any adjustments to our timeline or schedule. Our next action is still to make time and call the departments to answer our empathy questions and to get the empathy interview out of the way.

Blog 4 Environmental Awareness

Blog 4 November 19, 2016

This week my partner and I accomplished starting on our pitch to say to the departments we are going to ask. We also found a website about DFW (Department of Fish and Wildlife) that tells us the answers for some of our empathy questions. We also thought of changing some parts of our proposal and we think it would be better if we could work with DFW for this environmental awareness project. Nothing has really gone wrong so far, still going good on our project. The challenges I have faced so far in this environmental project is creating the pitch to say to the departments when we call them. Through this process I have learned  that you could find answers online and it would help a great deal, but we are still going to make a call and ask them for assistance to answer our questions. My skills have improved by me working smarter not harder. Also in communication and teamwork with my partner. Yes, my partner and I are on track for on-time delivery. No, adjustments will be needed for the schedule or timeline we have planned. My next action is to get those empathy questions answered.

Blog 3 Environmental Awareness

Blog 3 November 12, 2016

This week my partner and I have accomplished starting on our elevator pitch. I hope we continue to bring the fire and that I will memorize all of my parts and not get them mixed up in the future when we present it. Nothing has really gone wrong yet and hopefully it is smooth sailing until the end. The challenges we have faced over the week is that we barely worked on the project because of the no school days and barely anytime in class to work on it, but my partner and I communicated online and got a bit of the stuff done. The thing I learned through the process is that communication is key. My skills haven’t really improved over the week based on this project, but I guess time management and communication skills kind of improved. Yes, we are still on track for the on-time delivery. No adjustments are needed as of now on this project’s timeline. This month is just to conduct the empathy interviews and we have our questions down. We just need to get out there and start doing them. Our next action is to still conduct the empathy interviews and to continue working on our elevator pitches.

Blog 2 Environmental Awareness

Blog 2 November 5, 2016

This week my partner and I have accomplished our empathy questions. We wrote down questions to ask specific people and departments relating to the environment. We hope to get amazing responses that will benefit us. The thing that went wrong was we had trouble creating questions to ask the people and departments intended for it. The challenges we faced were creating those questions. It was kind of tough because we didn’t know what to ask them and also because my partner and I didn’t really have much time to talk about it in class, but we eventually got it done by communicating online. The thing I have learned throughout the process is that technology really came in handy. We got to communicate online to finish it up. I have improved my skill over the past week by having good time management. Yes, my partner and I are on track for our on-time delivery. We do not need any adjustments because our timeline or schedule right now for November is to conduct the empathy interviews, and we just finished creating the questions for it. Our next action is to go out there and start gathering the results and meet up with the people and departments and ask them our questions and start conducting the interviews.

Environmental Awareness Blog 1

Blog 1 October 29, 2016

What I have accomplished  so far is the proposal and the pitch to the class. I am pretty sure we brought the fire in the classroom and did a great job pitching our proposal. We are still working on our empathy interviews and making one for each department  and certain people we are going to ask. The thing that went wrong with the pitch was that I added some stuff that didn’t necessarily had to be in there like the beach-clean ups, campus-clean ups, and other activities we were suppose to do. It didn’t really relate to environmental justice, our goal for this project. The challenges that I have faced so far was presenting the pitch. I was very nervous, but I managed to overcome the stage fright and do the best I could. Hopefully, I get more comfortable with public speaking for future presentations and speaking to people about our project. I have improved my skill over the past week by practicing public speaking and making me break my shell and be more comfortable presenting and talking in front of an audience or crowd. I believe my partner and I are on track with our work. We do not need any adjustments right now in our timeline. Hopefully, we stay on track and do all the work needed to be done during that month or schedule we have set up. My next action is to complete the empathy interview and start gathering the results needed.

Below is our pitch written on some index cards
